Oak Branch Concerts

Concerts at Oak Branch are free to the public. If you would like to make a donation to support our performers or HAAM (Health Alliance for Austin Musicians), any donation is sincerely appreciated and can be made at the performance or visiting the HAAM website.

We have been missing music at Oak Branch and so we will have two "PopUp" concerts with Rick Rowley. The program will be wonderful for summer with Mompou's delightful "Scènes d'Enfants" and Schubert's endearing early Sonata in A Major, D. 664. These will be followed by Chopin's Polonaise-Fantaisie, Op. 61 and "Los Requiebros" from "Goyescas" by Enrique Granados.
Since it is summer we are going to have two concerts and limited attendance. If you would like to join us, we ask that you let us know for that reason.
The Saturday evening program will begin at 7:00 pm and Sunday will begin at 3:00 pm, as usual.

Piano Trio Concert:
Sari, Andrew and Rick are performing a concert on the Pearce's series at Lakeway. The music is so wonderful they decided to repeat the concert at the barn at Oak Branch. Please join us to start the summer with some fantastic chamber music!
OCTOBER 19 (COMING NEXT): RAMEAU Double Take: Sophia Gilmson, harpsichord and piano

Sophia Gilmson presents a unique All-Rameau program. Sophia plays each original work on harpsichord followed by playing Godowsky’s transcription of the same works on the piano. The performance will be about an hour long without intermission and will include some introductory words for each selection.

DECEMBER 13 (COMING NEXT): Beethoven Birthday Concert

Patti and Rick will perform a concert honoring Beethoven's birthday on December 16. Patti will perform his beloved "Pathètique" Sonata in c minor, Op. 13. Rick will play Mozart's Fantasy and Sonata in c minor, K. 475 and 457. These two sonatas share deep motivic and aesthetic affinities and should be interesting to hear together.

Will has been asked to step into another major quartet in need of a second violinist for the weekend. We are glad Will can help them out, but it means we will postpone this recital at Oak Branch. We will find a date to reschedule the concert, most likely next fall.

Women’s work, as the saying goes, is never done. It’s one of those truths that is universally acknowledged! Join Chaski for our presentation of Women’s Work, a concert highlighting the creative work of women composers, writers, scientists, and artists. We’ll be celebrating Chaski’s 40th anniversary as well as the 250th birthday anniversaries of author Jane Austen and harpist/composer Sophia Dussek. There is no charge for admission. Matt and Rick will perform transcriptions for clarinet and piano of two great works: Mozart's Sonata in A Major for Violin and Piano, K. 526 and selections from Samuel Barber's iconic "Hermit Songs", originally for voice and piano. The program will also include Guastavino's Sonata for Clarinet and Piano.
